Offense
Absolutely love this QB room. The guys in the room may not be Allen, Mahomes, Burrow, or Jackson but Darnold is someone that has shown he can start in this, even if it hasn’t been great every game, Lock has shown he can step in when needed and keep you competitive, and Milroe is someone that I’m betting on working out. I’m not saying he’ll turn out to be one of “THE GUYS” in the NFL but with his work ethic and attitude combined with his athletic talent I don’t see him not sticking around on a roster for years and years.
- The upside might not be top end of the league but you’ll get quality play out of Darnold and I also believe Lock and/or Milroe can step in when needed to keep you competitive
This RB room is REALLY deep. From K9 to Charbonnet to McIntosh and even their 7th round pick Damien Martinez (Miami) can play and have roll on this team so long as he matures and keeps his mind focused on football as he had a couple issues in college which caused him to fall to the 7th Round in the first place.
Between the TE and WR room there’s some interesting options here between Fant, Barner, and especially Arroyo in the TE room (so long as he stays healthy) and all the way to the WR room with Cupp, JSN, MVS, and the rookies Horton and White III.. even Bobo can play. The only concern I have is the similarities in roles with some of these guys. I would like to see a guy I trust at X a bit more than MVS but it will certainly be fun to see the way they utilize Cupp at this point in his career and JSN as he continues to ascend.
The OL is very intriguing and I think so long as they stay healthy (especially at T) they can be a plus on this team but that’s not something you can necessarily bet on with a few of these guys.. considering the history.
Defense
This defense is very similar to the Bears in my opinion. I really like the talent across the board but there’s that lacking of a true game changer. They’re deep at nearly every position, outside of ILBbut even there I like the guys they have in that room as well even if they’re not the most proven yet.
- The edge group is very unique and versatile and the depth is just outstanding (Lawrence, Nwosu, Mafe, and Hall)
- The IDL could use another guy or two that I trust rotating in a bit more but I’m very excited to see what they get out of Murphy II this year
- The CB could maybe use another guy as well (similar to the IDL) but Witherspoon, Woolen, and Jobe can all play and feel good about Pritchett moving forward as well
- The S room might be my favorite in the league. Love and Bryant were both really solid last year for them (especially Love) and then you add this freak athlete, unique, and versatile piece in the draft with Emmanwori who I think can have a huge impact on what they do this year defensively
While I would like to see a true game changer on this defense those guys are incredibly hard to find and to tell the truth I think they have guys that are capable of becoming one of them.. in Murphy II, Witherspoon, and not necessarily this year but moving forward.. Emmanwori.
Overview
- This team lost some important pieces to their success last year in DK, Geno, and Lockett but I think they did a great job to supplement those losses and add to their strengths. Along with I think the guys they brought in (Darnold, Cupp, Lawrence, and their draft picks) may fit with what they want to do a bit more than the guys they lost despite their talent. We’ll see how it all plays out considering they’re in such a tough division and are swapping out so many pieces from this past regime but I believe in what Mike Mac has started building here and I see the Seahawks having a similar season to last where they’re battling it out for a wild card spot and/or the division because those will most certainly go hand in hand.
