  • Shades of Carlton Davis

Daylen Everette is a long armed solid athlete at CB that has very clean reps in off coverage and flashes exciting snaps in press as well despite inconsistency. Now while Everette is clean with his feet and his long arms allow him to play aggressive off the line that same aggression and physicality can get him in trouble down the field when he overuses his hands and body to ride WRs and in turn draw flags. He’s often too cautious when playing off coverage as well which often leads to him conceding easy receptions underneath. His great size and frame, willingness to help in the run, and promising play in off coverage pop on film and if he’s able to clean up some of his flaws in press technique and tendency to grab in man coverage at the next level I believe he’ll be a solid starting level outside CB in the NFL at some point on his rookie deal.

Positives

  • Long Arms and attitude allow him to engulf guys off the line of scrimmage (When his hands are correct which is inconsistent)
  • Willing to set the edge and tackle in the run game
  • Excels in off coverage with his eyes on QB
  • Clean feet off the line and throughout routes

Negatives

  • Slow to trigger on underneath routes
  • Hands in press reps are inconsistent which leads to him getting beat off the line an in turn down the field as well
  • At times he can tend to be too handsy/physical throughout the route which will be an issue in the NFL (Good hands and a willingness to attack off the line plays really well early on in routes and/or against short routes like slants/drags/crossers – But as routes develop and WRs get across those first few yards he has a handful of reps that he carries that same physicality throughout and especially at th top of the route which gets him in trouble)
  • While willing, his tackling technique often has him coming in too high
